Performing at a Valentine Celebration

Church Specific Connections and History (some mentioned elsewhere - please forgive any repetition):

  • Recorded and marketed CD entitled, "Simple Selections" with a liturgical music group from Port Angeles, WA
  • Longtime member of folk ensemble, "Celebration" in Piedmont, CA
  • Ongoing member of "Joyful Noise" at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim, WA
  • Performed at numerous weddings and funerals, with a personal record of 8 marriages in one October
  • Performed spontaneously with many Catholic church choirs in Hawaii, Oregon, California, Washington, and Virginia

Some Treasured And Unusual Performance Memories:

  • A bride at Mission San Jose, CA fainted early during her wedding ceremony. She was taken to a back room to revive. Guests waited patiently to countless flute and harpsichord variations of Twinkle, Twinkle (Mozart). Bride soon reappeared to happily complete the wedding ceremony
  • Unrehearsed improvisational performance with a dancer in Palo Alto, CA
  • Most picturesque places/ceremonies where I've performed include: Rose Garden in the hills of Berkeley, overlooking S.F. Bay; several locations with a view of Strait of Juan de Fuca, WA; many "mansions" with spectacular views, e.g., Golden Gate Bridge; Greek resort on Crete, Piazzas in Italian hill towns around Siena
  • Many gigs at retirement/nursing/senior homes. Some memories from those - women in wheelchair who began to cry upon hearing Danny Boy; Finnish man who became very emotional when I played the theme from Finlandia
  • recording studio sessions to add music to storytellers' personal tales in Port Angeles and on Maui
  • improvisational concert at Upcountry Sundays Acoustic Style at Casanova, Maui (broadcast over radio and Internet)
